Dr. Kathy Matthews grew up in Richmond, Virginia and attended Virginia Commonwealth University for her bachelor’s degree in psychology. She completed her Master’s and PhD at Teachers College, Columbia University in New York where she also taught students with special needs from early intervention through high school. She returned to Richmond as an administrator at The Faison Center, helping to provide services to children, adults and families impacted by autism. She maintains a part-time role at The Faison Center in their outreach efforts, teaches adjunct courses at the University of Virginia, and also works at Longwood University in the College of Education and Human Services. She specializes in teaching using Applied Behavior Analysis and is a Licensed Behavior Analyst. Outside of her professional obligations, she and her husband live in Powhatan County with their two incredible little boys and two obnoxious, adorable dogs.
